About the Opportunity
Summary
Reporting to the Center Director, the Associate Director fosters greater awareness, knowledge and skills around LGBTQIA2S+ identities, cultural literacies, and inclusion both in a U.S. as well as a global context. Working in collaboration with University stakeholders and community partners, the Associate Director leads the development, implementation, budgetary coordination, and assessment of programs and services directly related to the holistic health, wellness, sense of belonging, and student experience of Northeastern learners prioritized by the Center.
The Associate Director serves as the primary point of contact with University partners around issues of student care and resourcing. In this capacity, the Associate Director may also lead comprehensive, multi-channel outreach and education efforts in support of core Center initiatives and may act as a subject-matter expert for the university community on topics related to the Center's mission. They are the Center representative on unit-, divisional-, and pan-university collaborative initiatives, as needed.
The Associate Director works collaboratively with the Director to develop, manage, and execute signature Center programs, outreach efforts and core services, including budgetary management and operational planning. The Associate Director develops culturally sustaining systems, educational resources, and quality assurance practices that empower learners as peer mentors, advocates, and leaders in support of the University LGBTQIA2S+ community.
The Associate Director plays a leading role in the assessment, evaluation and evidence-based curriculum development of the Center's programs and services to meet the needs of a diverse learning community on the main Boston campus as well as contribute to presence and engagement across the growing global network.
In addition to these programmatic responsibilities, the Associate Director will supervise full-time professional staff, advise student organizations and affinity groups, and supervise and mentor the Center's student staff (including co-ops/interns).
This position requires frequent nights and weekends to ensure the success of programs and services.
Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field with at least 3-5 years of experience working with diverse or marginalized populations or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated specialist knowledge of the medical, legal, and cultural support needs of trans, non-binary, gender diverse, and Two-Spirit students is required, as is demonstrated understanding of the landscape of relevant resources in the Boston area. Knowledge of social justice issues and leading learning practices, curriculum development, evidence-based programming related to cultural issues and experiences, marginalized student identity development and/or diverse histories and advocacy is required. Knowledge of international LGBTQIA2S+ climates is preferred. Specific experience in providing direct services to historically underrepresented and LGBTQIA2S+ students in an urban, multicultural, and global environment preferred.
